FIREPLACE REVIEW
Information current as of
Do you need information on fireplaces? You've come to the right place! Let us
be your guide into this heart-warming world of comfort and luxury.
You have many options when it comes to fireplaces. Perhaps you recently bought a home with a hearth already there, or maybe you feel your home
needs one to improve its value and your enjoyment. No problem, we can help.
Ok, so what are your choices? Wood burning fireplaces have been around a long time, practically since fire was discovered. As we've moved into
the modern age the options for gas and electric fireplaces have been developed. Which is better? Let's
evaluate the pros and cons.
Gas fireplaces run on natural gas or propane, can be somewhat difficult to install but fit nicely into an
existing hearth and produce a real flame. They can be almost impossible to distinguish from wood burning options thanks to the sophisticated
design of fake wood inserts. The log inserts can be cheap and look very fake, or more expensive and look so real you hope your grandkids don't
accidently try to light it with a match.
Electric fireplaces are much faster to install, usually done in 15 minutes or less, faster if you don't have to assemble it. All you need is
an electric outlet with the proper amperage and voltage. The units are usually encased in a beautiful wood
mantle, and can often be moved around the room. In other words, they're portable.
Made your decision yet? If not, look around the site a little more for details about other various aspects of fireplaces. During the winter
fireplace use goes way up and you'll want to have yours installed before it gets too cold. Venders get really busy in the fall so shopping during
the off season can often save you the most money. Look online as well as at your local hardware and home improvement stores. Don't forget about
the accessories like tongs, shovels and fireplace screens.
